Included (I1, I2, I3): diamonds have obvious inclusions that are clearly visible to a trained grader under 10x magnification. Included diamonds have inclusions that are usually visible without magnification or have inclusions that threaten the durability of the stone. The I category is divided into three grades; I1 denotes a higher clarity grade than I2, which in turn is higher than I3. Inclusions in I1 diamonds often are seen to the unaided eye. I2 inclusions are easily seen, while I3 diamonds have large and extremely easy to see inclusions that typically impact the brilliance of the diamond, as well as having inclusions that are often likely to threaten the structure of the diamond.. This means that without any magnifications you are most likely able to see clarity characteristics (inclusions and blemishes) in a diamond under adequate lighting conditions. Using magnification the clarity characteristics are immediately apparent when you look at the diamond. Why an I1 Diamond Clarity? An I1 diamond clarity represents a savings when buying a diamond. A local diamond retailer can show you an I1 clarity diamond and you will be able to see if it is acceptable for your needs. When searching online to buy an I1 clarity diamond online it can be a different story.... a very* different story!* In most instances, I would not recommend buying an I1 clarity diamond from an online diamond retailer because there is no way to envision how the diamond would look.
